Executive Directors Message
by Marc Weiswasser, Executive Director

What a great gathering we had for our first General Meeting of the new Century. The information was topical, the networking inspirational and the food unbelievable. Again our thanks to the Las Vegas Conference Suites and Managing Director Patty Chernine, and Director Naomi Phillips.

Michael Harrison was our guest speaker, and between the handouts and the information he kept us all interested (please see related article). There were many new faces at this meeting and it was good to see the interaction. At all of our meetings we encourage members and attendees to display information about their company, service or product. There is no better time to mingle with your peers than at a CMA event.

As the socializing came to a close, Rich Lehman, General Manager for the Roadrunner Casinos, encouraged everyone to stop by his property and carry on the festivities. About 15 attendees took him up on the offer. Rich enjoyed it so much that he and Marketing Manager Maria Montenegro have invited CMA members and guests to do it again! The date is Thursday, February 24, starting at 6:00pm. The address is the Roadrunner Casino, 2839 W Sahara Ave, 227-8787. No RSVP's needed.

February Event
Our next CMA General Meeting only happens every four years, on February 29! We have the pleasure to hear Rick Fields, Vice President of Table Games for the Aladdin Resort and Casino. Rick has been a member for nearly three years and has helped shape our organization. His topic will include:

  • How will we attract quality employees?
  • Where will quality employees come from?
  • Pre-screening potential employees.
  • Floor layout and game mix.
  • Where and how to purchase gaming equipment.

Mark your calendar now. If you are unable to attend then purchasing the videotape is the next best thing to being there. This event will be hosted by the Palace Station. Our thanks to Jim Hughes, President, Palace Station Hotel & Casino.

Remember to encourage friends in other states to join the CMA. We need volunteer support to open chapters in other jurisdictions. Tell your friends and coworkers about the CMA. Pass this newsletter along. Put a CMA bumper sticker on your car. If you are not a member, what are you waiting for? Together we can make the CMA the organization for generations to come.
